Beaver Ambassadors started in West Linn, Oregon, to provide more environmental activities to our community. Beavers benefit ecosystems in countless, incredible ways. BUT they can cause conflicts with infrastructure in urban settings. Fortunately, we can (and have) found ways to work together.

Abstract:

The sandplain grassland and heathland of the coastal Northeast are part of a rare and protected habitat type. Many species of plants, birds, and insects rely on these remaining sandplain habitats.

I’ve been working with the Mapping Action Collective (MAC) and Bark to determine the best places to release beavers in the Mt. Hood National Forest. Beavers provide incredible ecological benefits. Due to habitat disconnectivity the ability for beavers to migrate naturally into and around Mt. Hood may be compromised.
